The Carmi-White County Lady Bulldog softball team defeated the Benton Rangerettes in the 2A Regional Semifinals yesterday afternoon by a final score of 11-1. CWC was led by Audrey Upton who pitched a complete game, striking out 9 and only walking one batter, as well as Mara Serafini who went 3-for-4 at the plate with 2 home runs and 5 RBI.
With the win, the Lady Bulldogs advance to the regional championship to face the Hamilton County Lady Foxes tomorrow afternoon. Carmi has already defeated Hamilton County twice by scores of 9-0 and 7-3. Carmi is looking for their first regional championship since 2016.
The Carmi-White County Bulldog baseball team will host Mt. Carmel tonight at Eckerle Park in the IHSA 2A Regional Semifinal at 6 PM. The Bulldogs ended the regular season with a 10-14 record, they look to pull off the upset and punch their ticket to Saturday’s regional championship. The Carmi-White County Boys Track team competed at the Webber Township Sectional in Bluford yesterday afternoon, and multiple Bulldogs are heading to state next week including:
Tanner Spence in the 1 Mile
Nelson Rider in Discus.
Bryce Conner in the 400 Meter Race.
As well as the 4×4 Relay team consisting of Conner, Spence, Trey Dixon and Isaac King.
They will all compete at the IHSA State Track meet in EIU next week.
And speaking of IHSA State Track Meets, best of luck to Ashlyn Rager, Callie Accord, Ally Pollard, Makyla Seibers and Gabbie Conover as they will be competing in the state preliminaries this afternoon.
