The Carmi-White County Lady Bulldog softball team defeated Mt. Carmel yesterday afternoon at the IHSA 2A Fairfield Regional Semifinal by a final score of 1-0.
It was a pitchers duel from start to finish, as neither team could break through offensively.
After Mt. Carmel left the go-ahead run on 3rd base in the top of the 7th, Mara Serafini stepped to the plate with the winning run on 1st base.
Serafini lined one into the left center field gap, and Addi Elliott scored all the way from 1st and the Lady Bulldogs walked it off to punch their ticket to the regional championship.
Carmi will face Fairfield in the Regional Championship game today at 4:30 PM. The game was originally scheduled for tomorrow, but with rain in tomorrow’s forecast, the game has been moved to today.
The Carmi-White County Bulldog baseball team will battle Fairfield today in the IHSA 2A Regional Semifinal at Mt. Carmel. Fans can listen to today’s game on 97.3 FM WRUL with 1st pitch set for 4:30. WRUL will provide up-to-the-minute updates on the Lady Bulldogs softball game during the baseball broadcast.
*UPDATE – today’s CWC vs Fairfield baseball game will start at 3:30 PM, instead of 4:30 PM.*
Best of luck to Torrie Rider and Ashlyn Rager as they head to Charleston today for the IHSA State Track Meet. Rider will be throwing shot put, and Rager will throw discus.
Also best of luck to the CWC Boys Track team as they travel to Webber-Bluford for sectionals.
