The IHSA Boys Basketball State Finals began yesterday at the State Farm Center on the campus of the University of Illinois in Champaign.
In 1A, Meridian defeated Chicago Hope Academy 68-60.
Meridian will face West Central in the 1A State Championship game tomorrow at 11 AM.
This is Meridian’s 2nd State Championship Game appearance, they brought home 2nd place in 2015. The Wildcat’s look to win their first ever State Championship.
In 2A, Benton defeated Byron 50-42.
The Rangers advance to the State Championship for the first time in school history, they will battle Chicago Phillips tomorrow at 1 PM.
3A and 4A semifinals will begin today with the 3A and 4A State Championship games set for tomorrow night.
The Carmi-White County baseball and softball teams will begin their seasons on Monday as the Bulldogs travel to West Frankfort and the Lady Bulldogs will travel to Grayville.
Best of luck this season to coach Simmons and the Bulldogs and coach Stubblefield and the Lady Bulldogs.
