Carmi-White County senior girls basketball player, Mara Serafini, was named to the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association All-State Special Mention Team. 

Serafini led the Lady Bulldogs to a 26-win season, which included a conference championship. 

Serafini surpassed the 1,000 career points mark in her senior season, and was named Black Diamond Conference East MVP unanimously. 

Congratulations to Mara Serafini.

The IHSA 1A-4A Boys Basketball state finals will take place this weekend at the State Farm Center on the campus of the University of Illinois in Champaign. 

Meridian and Benton are the only area teams who have a chance to bring home a state title.

In 1A,
Meridian will face Chicago Hope Academy tomorrow morning.
Aurora Christian will battle Winchester.
Winners of those two games will face off in the 1A State Title game Saturday at 11 AM.
Losers will battle in the 1A 3rd Place game tomorrow night at 6:30 PM.

In 2A,
Benton will face Byron tomorrow at 3:45 PM.
Williamsville will battle Chicago Phillips tomorrow at 2 PM.
Winners of those two games will face off in the 2A State Title game Saturday at 1 PM.
Losers will battle in the 2A 3rd Place game tomorrow night at 8:15 PM.

3A and 4A semifinals will begin on Friday, with the 3A and 4A State Championship Games set for Saturday at 5:30 PM and 7:30 PM.
