Back on Saturday, the Carmi-White County boys basketball team defeated Evansville Day 70-43 to claim the championship of the 43rd annual Carmi-White County Invitational Tournament. Carmi led 25-22 at the break, and then a 3rd quarter explosion helped the Dogs outscore Evansville Day 45-21 in the 2nd half.
Carmi went 4-0 on the week to win the tournament title for the first time since 1999. Mt. Vernon finished in 2nd place at 3-1, Harrisburg went 2-2, Fairfield went 1-3, Evansville Day went 0-4.
Harrisburg’s Cameron Ande, Evansville Day’s Tyler Myers, Mt. Vernon’s Nicot Burnett, Fairfield’s Eric Rogers and Carmi’s Mitchel Edwards were named to the All-Tournament Team. Carmi’s Bryce Conner won tournament MVP.
The Bulldogs will have a few days off after a long week, they will travel to Grayville this Friday night.
The CWC Lady Bulldog basketball team will host Fairfield tonight at McDougal-Evers Gymnasium. The Lady Dogs are 9-14 on the year, and are coming off a 5th place finish at the Eldorado Lady Eagle Classic last week. Fairfield took down the Lady Dogs 52-33 last month.
