Last night was the second night of IHSA Sectional Semifinals, numerous Southern Illinois teams were in action.
At the NCOE 1A Sectional,
Waterloo Gibault Catholic defeated Goreville 51-44.
Gibault will face Meridian tomorrow night in the Sectional Championship.
At the Benton 2A Sectional,
Benton defeated Trenton Wesclin 59-35.
Benton will battle Breese Central tomorrow night.
Benton is ranked #3 in 2A, Breese Central is #1.
At the Shelbyville 2A Sectional,
Teutopolis defeated Tolono-Unity 48-39.
TTown will face St. Joseph Ogden tomorrow night.
At the Triad 3A Sectional,
Mt. Vernon defeated East St. Louis 56-44.
Mt. Vernon will battle Centralia tomorrow night.
The Black Diamond Conference released their boys and girls All-Conference teams for the 2023-2024 basketball season and five CWCHS athletes were named All-Conference.
For the girls, Caroline Simmons and Mara Serafini received all-conference nods, while Serafini was named conference MVP.
For the boys, Gavin Holloman, Mitchel Edwards and Landon Driscoll were named all-conference and Driscoll was named BDC MVP.
It is the first time in CWC history that a Bulldog and a Lady Bulldog were named conference MVP in the same season.
