Local Sports Recap – August 18, 2022

The Carmi Golf teams are in action today as they travel to Harrisburg. The boys are coming off a win at home against NCOE, while the girls fell to a tough Massac County team on Monday. On the boys side, the Purple Bulldogs have not defeated the Maroon Bulldogs since Trey Mason took over as head coach in 2017. But Mason says they are up this year, with a solid number one and solid number two golfer. On the girls side, Mason says they are led by Frankie Nichols, a very good golfer. It’ll be a tough match to win on Harrisburg’s turf. Tune in tomorrow to hear the results from the match.

Junior high baseball and softball are at home today as they welcome in Hamilton County. Both teams are coming off of big losses earlier this week, and both teams are looking to get back in the win column. First pitch at both Bradshaw Park and Archie Brown field is set for 4:30 this afternoon, and be sure to tune in tomorrow to hear the results from both games.

And a reminder that tomorrow night at Carmi-White County high school is the fall sports preview and gator bowl. Fans can come out to meet all of the fall sports athletes, and they’ll also get to see a preview of this year’s CWC Football team. All fans can attend, admission is simply a bottle of gatorade. Fans that can’t attend can watch a live stream of the event with the commentary of myself and Chris Myers at WRUL.com.

And don’t forget this Saturday is the return of the Saturday Morning Sports Show. Tune in live at 9 AM on 97.3 WRUL, 93.3 WROY and online at WRUL.com.
