Local Sports Recap – April 21, 2023

The Carmi-White County Bulldog baseball team defeated Edwards County yesterday afternoon by a final score of 5-3. 

It was all knotted up at 3-3 heading into the top of the 7th inning, but an RBI double by Travor Mason and an RBI single by Cade Allen put the Bulldogs ahead 5-3 heading into the bottom of the 7th.

The Lions answered with a solo home run to lead off the 7th to cut the Bulldog lead to 5-4, but with the tying run on 1st base, Mason was able to strike out the side to clinch the win for the maroon and white. 

The Bulldogs sweep the Lions on the season, improving their record to 6-10 and 3-3 in the BDC East. CWC will travel to Vienna tomorrow for a doubleheader against the Eagles and Anna-Jonesboro.

The Carmi-White County Lady Bulldog softball team picked up a 21-7 win over Edwards County.

The bats were hot for CWC from start to finish. The Lady Dogs scored 4 in the top of the 1st inning, 2 in the 2nd, 4 in the 4th, 2 in the 5th, 4 in the 6th and 5 in the 7th.

Carmi totalled 18 hits on the afternoon including home runs by Mara Serafini, Audrey Upton and Kassi Milligan. 

The Lady Bulldogs improve to 9-6 on the year and 5-1 in the BDC East.
They will host Mt. Vernon on Monday before traveling to Eldorado on Tuesday.
