A 38 year old Carmi man, Shawn Dale “Mexico” Jones, died after an ATV accident in Crossville Monday afternoon. White County Sheriff’s Dispatch received the call at approximately 5:44 PM. Witnesses, who reportedly saw the accident unfold, told officers it appeared the ATV’s throttle became stuck. Jones drove through several yards at a high rate of speed before striking a tree behind 304 Rotary Street in Crossville. The White County Sheriff’s Office and White County EMS responded to the scene. White County Coroner Chris Marsh pronounced Jones dead at the scene. An autopsy is planned for this week.

Witnesses reportedly saw the accident unfold and told officers on scene it appeared the ATV’s throttle became stuck. The man eventually struck a tree at a residence on Rotary Street. White County Coroner Chris Marsh says he was pronounced dead on site. Marsh says the individual was by himself and he’s planned an autopsy for this week. The name of the deceased is not being released at this time while next of kin are being notified.
