Carmi-White County senior running back, Isaac King has chosen his destination to further his education and football career.
Murray State University.
King re-wrote the CWC Football record books by breaking or tying every nearly every rushing record including;
Most points in a game (40)
Most points in a career (348)
Most touchdowns in a season (24)
Most touchdowns in a career (50)
Most rushing yards in a quarter (150)
Most rushing yards in a season (1,945)
Most rushing yards in a career (4,216)
Most consecutive 100-plus-yard rushing games (19)
Most 100-plus-yard rushing games in a season (10)
Most 100-plus-yard rushing games in a career (22)
Most rushing TDs in a season (22), 2021 (tied with Logan Rogers from 2010)
Most rushing TDs in a career (46)
Now King will look to break more records, but this time for the navy and yellow Racers. However, it won’t come without hard work and dedication, something King has come very familiar with.
King will join the Racers roster as a “grey shirt” walk-on. Meaning he will be able to take part in certain team activities, but won’t be able to earn playing time until the 2024 season.
There has been a small list of players in CWCHS history to play football at the next level, but only a select few have had the chance to play for a Division I University.
“I’m just excited for the opportunity to continue to play the game that I love at a great university,” said the 2x All-State running back.
“We loved the atmosphere and coaching staff at Murray State,” said Isaac’s dad and CWCHS Principal, Bart King.
“They were extremely welcoming and down to Earth. They have a philosophy of developing the “whole student-athlete” and I have the utmost respect for that.”
Isaac and his dad both know that success at the D1 level won’t come easy, but the King family knows that anything is possible.
“We know that Isaac will have his work cut out for him,” spoke Bart.
“His mom and I have just encouraged him to go give it his best, to be a hard worker, a quality teammate, and enjoy the opportunity to build relationships and experience the game he loves in a different setting. He has nothing to lose, and so much potential for growth.”
King will go down as one of, if not the best running back in CWCHS history.
Now, he will get the opportunity to continue his legacy at Murray State University.
Congratulations, and best of luck to Isaac King!
