A single vehicle accident landed a Kentucky man in the White County Friday. At a little before 8 p.m. Deputy Simmons with White County Sheriff’s Department was dispatched to Route 1 South of Carmi in reference to the crash. When Simmons arrived on scene he spoke with the driver 20 year old Jaron Casey who stated that he was driving southbound on Route 1 when he fell asleep and crashed into a ditch. Casey stated that neither he nor the two passengers in the vehicle were injured in the crash. After running Caseys information through dispatch Simmons was informed that the plates came back as expired/canceled for Failure to Maintain Insurance. Casey told the Deputy the car was a company vehicle and he didn’t know plates were expired. He was advised that he would be placed under arrest and that the vehicle would be towed. Don’t Bumper to Bumper was called to tow the vehicle from the scene.
Casey was taken into custody and booked in the White County Jail where he was charged with Operation of Vehicle with Canceled Registration, a class A Misdemeanor. He paid $250 bond and was released a couple of hours later.
