Online records don’t yet indicate when a Carmi man is due in court following his arrest by Illinois State Police Saturday night. It was just before 10:30 when a trooper conducted the traffic stop due to a vehicle code violation according to the report. 44-year-old Clinton Wolff of Carmi was pulled over on Robinson at Jessup; subsequently placed under arrest and is being charged with Driving under the Influence of Alcohol. He was booked and released in about 6 minutes. Wolff is a Guidance Counselor with Carmi White County Unit 5 Schools and expected by many to be the heir apparent to the Athletic Director position.

September 16, 2024 at 6:30 pmI think if their job is to work with our youth it should be reported and mugshot included. Mr Wolf broke the law, and should have his picture up with the tweakers and trespassers. He could have killed one of those kids we trust him to teach, or himself. Let’s not send the message to our youth that DUIs are cool or okay.

September 16, 2024 at 7:16 pmSue,
I agree. When you’re paid by my tax dollars I believe that everyone should know what you do both good and bad.

September 16, 2024 at 9:14 pmHis place of employment should absolutely be reported if he’s a representing for public school system.
Just me
September 16, 2024 at 9:18 pmWhen you are employed by the state, county or school district it is necessary to inform the public of any type of criminal offense. These people are either elected or appointed so yes the public has the right to know especially if they are employed by the school district.
Sick and tired
September 16, 2024 at 9:58 pmWhy are some people immediately released and others spend the night for the same offense?

September 17, 2024 at 7:06 amWhy can’t we post every one dui ??
Joe mama
September 17, 2024 at 10:13 amcause not everyone needs to be posted, sometimes it’s like, barely anything in their system. there’s no point making news about something that doesn’t really need it,
from how I see it, this is a first time mistake, everyone makes them,

September 18, 2024 at 9:29 pmClinton has done more for kids in Carmi than anyone commenting here. I have worked with him in the guidance office in the past and he was totally helpful and had the best interest of the kids in mind. He will learn from this.
Really Now?
September 23, 2024 at 6:53 amNo one said he didn’t do enough for the kids. It’s just only fair to report all of the news. If they are going to post arrests, then they should report all of them. Chances are because he is so much better than all the other DUI offenders, this is the only punishment he will receive for it. A little shame keeps you humble, and maybe sober behind the wheel.

September 21, 2024 at 12:26 amYes, he messed up. He was on his own time and doing what 90% of adults do on a weekend. He was caught as he should have been. And now he will have to deal with the consequences of his actions. I hope maybe that this will be a way he can show our youth that there are consequences for bad decisions and actions. Everyone messes up and yes, most are put on blast more than a select few unfortunately. Mr. Wolfe has been nothing but helpful to all 7 of my kids in this school system. He has cheered them on in sports and helped with scholarships when they have graduated. I believe he just made a bad choice and now everyone can learn from it. So everyone, please learn from this and do your best to not do it yourself. God bless.
I matter
September 21, 2024 at 1:59 amSome of you are saying just because he’s employed in the school system and he’s one of those good old guys and this shouldn’t be made public and probably shouldn’t even been arrested but when someone of a different background etc… you are the ones who are yelling to lock them up and they are trashing your city hmmmm tell me your a hypocrite without saying you are a hypocrite.
