ISP Enforcement Patrol Results

Illinois State Police District 19 Commander, Captain Nathan Douglas released the results of the district’s June alcohol countermeasure enforcement and occupant restraint (seatbelts) enforcement patrols.

The seatbelt patrols in White County netted 19 safety belt citations, three child restraint citations, with a total of 12 warnings issued. There were 29 citations issued during the seatbelt patrols.

The commander pointed out that while most motorists know and understand safety belts save lives, some ignore their safety and that of their families by neglecting to use the restraints. Lives can be saved if people simply buckle up.

The ACE (alcohol countermeasure enforcement) Patrols held in White and Hamilton Counties resulted in no arrest or citations for DUI or other alcohol or drug citations.

There were 19 speeding tickets issued during those patrols, along with five registration offenses and one driver’s license offense.

State police issued a total of 40 written warnings during the ACE patrols.

Captain Douglas explained the ACE patrols allow the ISP to focus on preventing, detecting and taking enforcement action in response to violations associated with impaired driving and illegal transportation or consumption of alcohol or drugs. He pointed out there is one alcohol-related traffic fatality every 53 minutes in the United States. The ACE patrol allows officers to work even harder at removing dangerous DUI offenders from the road.

The projects are funded through the Illinois Department of Transportation.
