Illinois State Police District 19 responded to a two vehicle personal injury traffic crash Saturday at approximately 9:00 PM in Saline County. Ashley Hartman, 21, of Stonefort, was traveling north on IL 145, in her 2008 Volkswagen Jetta, near Garden Heights Road. She signaled to turn left into a private drive, and slowed down to turn, when her vehicle was struck in the rear by a 2010 Chevy Truck driven by Brandon Hambleton, 18, of Carrier Mills. Hambleton had looked away from the road and failed to notice the Jetta slowing to turn. Hartman and a 2 year old male passenger were transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Other passengers in Hartman’s vehicle, and Hambleton were uninjured. Hambleton was cited for Driving Too Fast for Conditions/Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident.
