Illinois State Police District 19 responded to a personal injury traffic crash this (Thursday) morning around 7:20 a.m. in Wayne County. 62 year old, John Peery, of Louisville, KY, was traveling east on Interstate 64, approximately ¼ mile west of milepost 107 in Wayne County when he fell asleep, causing his 2021 International Truck-Tractor Semi-Trailer to leave the roadway to the left, overturning in the median. Peery was not injured, however, a passenger, Charles Copeland, 75, of Louisville, KY was transported by ambulance to an area hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Peery was cited for Driving While Ill or Fatigued and for Improper Lane Usage.
