Illinois State Police District 19 investigated a single vehicle personal injury crash Friday morning just before 8.
A preliminary investigation indicates a 15 year old female was traveling southbound on State Route 142 approximately 1400 feet south of Hamilton County Road 400 North. For an unknown reason, her 2005 Honda Accord left the roadway to the right and she attempted to return to the roadway, overcorrecting and causing the vehicle to leave the roadway to the left, striking a tree with the driver’s side. After striking the tree, the vehicle spun around and came to rest near the tree facing northeast. The 15 year old was transported to a local area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. A passenger, 47 year old Rebecca Anne Byars of McLeansboro was not injured.
