UPDATE as of 4:18pm: Wayne County Health Department was notified late this morning of a Wayne County resident who tested positive for Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19). This is the first laboratory confirmed positive of COVID-19 in Wayne County. The individual is currently isolating at home to control transmission of the disease. Public health officials have begun an investigation of this case, speaking with individuals who may have come into contact with the individual before this diagnosis. Through our investigation, public health may place other individuals on home quarantine if they are determined to have had significant exposure.
The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) today announced 1,140 new cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Illinois, including 125 additional deaths.

Alexander County is now reporting a case. Currently, IDPH is reporting a total of 25,733 cases, including 1,072 deaths, in 90 counties in Illinois. The age of cases ranges from younger than one to older than 100 years.
