Illinois State Police District 19 investigated a Two Unit Personal Injury Traffic Crash, Sunday morning around 9:20 in Wayne County.
55 year old James Schlindwein, of Carterville, was traveling eastbound at 917 Central Street when he lost control on ice, exited the south side of the roadway and struck a telephone cable enclosure. His 2011 Ford re-entered the roadway traveling northeast, then traveled to the north side of the roadway and struck a utility pole and continued northeast across a driveway, striking a carport and the front
bumper of a 2008 Chevy, before stopping in a driveway.
Schlindwein was transported to a local area hospital with injuries. He was issued a citation for Driving too Fast for Conditions.
