Holiday Weekend a Success

Turkey sandwiches for lunch?….that may be today’s menu for a number of local residents who wrapped up the holiday weekend with leftovers from Thursday’s Thanksgiving meal.

Many of those folks turned out Friday and hit the area stores for Black Friday and then rolled out again Saturday for Small Business Saturday. A number of local merchants indicated the day went well and are hoping the holiday shopping season brings lots of sales and more importantly lots of buying shoppers.

A good crowd turned out for the It’s a White County Christmas Parade held Saturday night in downtown Carmi. Santa made his first official visit to Carmi, with plans to return several times prior to Christmas Eve.

Today is Cyber Monday, and it is expected to add to what some retailers are indicating is a season “going well,” while other retailers are disappointed in sales to date and hoping the next few weeks bring out the shoppers and increase their year end revenues.
