A Harrisburg doctor convicted of killing his wife and then burning the body has been sentenced more than 4 years after the murder. Brian Burns was in Saline County Court Tuesday afternoon to be sentenced after multiple delays. He will spend an additional 40 years behind bars. Burns was already serving a 20-year sentence for attempting to have former Saline County States Attorney, the late Mike Henshaw kidnapped. While he was in jail, Burns offered to pay a fellow inmate to arrange for Henshaw to be kidnapped with Burns’ plan being to release Henshaw in exchange for the murder charges being dropped, that according to testimony from the fellow inmate. The case against Burns alleged that he decided to kill his estranged wife, Carla because he was going to face financial ramifications if she filed a separate tax return during their divorce proceedings. Burns claimed his wife’s gunshot wound was self-inflicted.
