During the overnight hours of November 14, 2022 the Harrisburg Police Department began conducting an investigation into the threat of an active shooter. Officers identified the suspect who allegedly made the threats as Hunter D. Gross, 19 of Norris City, Illinois. On November 15, 2022 Officers located and arrested Gross without incident. A search warrant was executed at a residence in White County, Illinois in furtherance of the investigation. Gross is currently incarcerated at the Saline County Detention Center, on a No Bond Warrant charging him with Making Terroristic Threats and Intimidation. The investigation is ongoing and no further information will be released at this time.
The Saline County Sheriff’s Office, White County Sheriff’s Office, Illinois State Police District 19 Investigations, Saline County State’s Attorney’s Office, and the ILEAS 9/11 Special Response Team assisted in the investigation.
