Grayville Council Sets Trick or Treat Hours; Closes Roads for Boo Bash; Moves Forward on Annexation

With no executive session, Grayville leaders breezed through their first of two October meetings Monday night.  Treasurer Sharon Walden went over her report and also briefed council on the annual report which will be placed on review for 30 days before a public hearing and official filing.  Operating Revenues for the fiscal year ending in April of this year showed $3,062,539.24 and expenditures totaling $4.3 million minus $423,000 in depreciation and coming to more than $3.915 million.

Andy Brock from the Friends of Grayville reported a successful Car Show back on October 5th with 116 registered vehicles for the day.  Brock said it was one of the best attended shows in the event’s 17-year history.

Council passed a formal resolution agreeing to commit Motor Fuel Tax Funds in the amount of $34,500 for their part in the repaving of Illinois route 1 at the North Street intersection.  The topic was brought up and approved at a September meeting.

Council also is moving forward with annexing 205 Hagedorn Road into the city.  Darrin Harrington of Darrin’s Collision Repair is expected to benefit from being part of the newly established Business District from the annexation.  He also would have the opportunity to take advantage of in city rates for utilities.

Grayville has set Trick or Treat Hours for Halloween and approved the closing of some roads for the Boo Bash on the Sunday preceding.  Trick or Treaters will be welcome to visit homes from 5p – 8p on Thursday, October 31st.  The Boo Bash will be held on Sunday, October 27th hosted by the Grayville Community Arts Association downtown.

Botsch and Associates, CPA’s will continue to provide audit services for Grayville after council accepted their 3-year proposal up to $16,500 per year.

Council also agreed to a Revolving Loan Grant that will assist Wyatt Hatcher with half the expected cost to demo 124 and 126 West Mill Street.  The cost is expected to be $3,500 with Grayville giving $1,750.
