The White County Sheriff’s Department responded to an accident involving a golf cart Thursday afternoon. Just before 2:00 PM, Officers were dispatched to 405 Hamell Street in Crossville. White County Ambulance and Crossville First Responders also arrived on scene.
Freda G. Mercer, 67, of Crossville, was riding a golf cart with her grandkids. She stopped to look at a swing set and tree house with the grandkids, getting out of the golf cart but leaving the key on. One of the grandkids accidentally pushed on the gas pedal causing the golf cart to drive over top of Freda with the golf cart coming to rest on top of her. She was taken by lifeflight Air Evac to Deaconess Midtown in Evansville.
