Friday Night Fatal Crash
The Illinois State Police continue investigating a fatal crash that happened at Illinois Route 1 at County Road 400 E, White County just after midnight on Friday, July 31st.
An 18-year-old male from Norris City, IL died in the crash. As of early Monday morning, the Illinois State Police had still not released the name of the deceased. With that in mind and with respect to the family, WROY/WRUL News will release the name as soon as it is cleared to release. We expect that sometime later this morning, however, social media sites have indicated who the deceased was.
48-year-old Brian W. Dartt and 48-year-old Melissa R. Talley, both of Carmi, were transported to area hospitals, both in serious condition.
According to ISP, Dartt was traveling northbound on Illinois Route 1 near County Road 400 East in White County in a 2002 Red Dodge Pickup with Talley as a passenger in his car.
The 18-year-old, in a 2012 Blue Hyundai Sonata, was traveling southbound on Illinois Route 1 approaching them.
“For unknown reason, [Dartt] crossed into the southbound lane and struck [him] head on,” the ISP release stated.
The 18-year-old was pronounced deceased on scene by the White County Coroner.
Both Dartt and Talley were airlifted to the hospital.
The investigation is still ongoing.
