For Amusement Only: Illinois Gaming Board Report Reveals Large Video Gaming Returns Through First Quarter in Carmi

The 11 video gaming establishments in Carmi have made a collective $665,526.52 in terminal income through the first 3 months of 2023.  They don’t get to keep all that mind you as the state takes it’s share and the City of Carmi also gets a cut.  It does shed a light on how much disposable income there is whether residents can truly afford to dispose of it or not.  Of that nearly $666,000 total, $226,279.48 is taken in taxes.  More than $33,000 goes to the municipality.  An additional $193,000 goes to the state of Illinois.

Over the January through March period, more than $730,000 went into video gaming terminals at Martin and Bayley’s 6 machines alone.  Players got back or “won” $473,232.88 resulting in net terminal income of more than a quarter of a million dollars, more than the next 3 most played locations combined.   A&S Enterprises, better known as Pundrakes was home to the second most played terminals.  Over $300,000 went into their 6 machines.  Players lost an accumulative $84,553.83 over 3 months there.  The Carmi American Legion was home to the third highest total, followed by Rock Bottom.

The numbers are on par with 2022 and 2021 levels over the same period.
