***UPDATE*** (Food will not be served at this event. The bands will still be performing and the cover charge has been lowered to $5.00.) The Carmi Elks Lodge is hosting a “Fight for Felicia” fundraiser this evening at their lodge on Cherry Street in Carmi. Felicia Rumsey, a local Carmi woman was diagnosed in the summer of 2019 with stage 4 colon cancer. She underwent treatments while teaching at Carmi White County Junior High and raising two children. Back in January, she was told she wasn’t a candidate for surgery due to impediments with some of the tumors. Rumsey is currently seeking options through the Mayo Clinic. All proceeds from tonight’s fundraiser will go to Rumsey and her family. Local Yokels BBQ will be on hand from 5:30 to 7:30 tonight. There will be a half pot drawing…tickets are $5 each or 5 for $20, and music by Long Hard Road and Six to Midnight will be held from 7:30 to 11:30pm. There is a $10 cover charge, again with all proceeds from the evening going to Rumsey and her family.
The community has rallied around Rumsey with several ways to help out. The Taco Factory is donating all tips to Felicia’s fight. There are T-shirts for sale as well…you can order yours at:
