Enfield Village Board Met Tuesday

The Enfield Village Board met in regular session last night, back at the village building and practicing social distancing.

Mayor Tom Harbour said the Rend Lake Conservancy District decided that due to the coronavirus, they would hold up raising water rates by 3.5% until August 1st.

There were complaints from Bob Meyers about water running off from the old Gupta property onto his property when it rains.  The village lined up bales of straw at the border line of the two properties to soak up the water.  It was noted that there wasn’t much more they could do about it since they can’t control the weather.

They are still looking at purchasing a dump truck for the village.  They have passed the first phase of the process for receiving a grant for 25% of the cost and are looking at two different trucks at this time.

Mayor Harbour thanked the Enfield 4-H’ers for donating a carport to use as a shelter at the park.  They still need to get some tie-downs to secure it.

Due to COVID-19, the board decided to keep open the possibility of having a fireworks display on the Fourth of July, as they can wait as long as needed if they want to postpone it.

A flush hydrant was clipped near the Wayne/White County line.  It will be replaced with a meter well around it for $350.

And the computer the village used for billing crashed, but all the files were saved.  They purchased a new computer upgraded with Windows 10 with no interruption in service.
