Egyptian Health Department Reports 1 Saline County Death; 19 New COVID-19 Cases Tuesday

Egyptian Health Department was notified Tuesday of a Saline County Resident who has passed away due to complications of Coronavirus (COVID-19). The Egyptian Health Department is saddened by this news and their thoughts are with the family.

 

Egyptian Health Department was also notified on Tuesday, of 19 Southeastern Illinois residents who have tested positive for Coronavirus (COVID-19). The individuals include:

 

  • Saline County (9)
    • 1 female in her teens
    • 1 female in her 30’s
    • 2 males in their 30’s
    • 3 females in their 40’s
    • 1 female in her 80’s
    • 1 female; age demographics unknown-case status in progress

 

  • Gallatin County (2)
    • 1 male in his 20’s
    • 1 male in his 60’s

 

  • White County (8)
    • 1 female in her teens
    • 1 male in his 20’s
    • 2 females in their 40’s
    • 1 male in his 40’s
    • 1 female in her 50’s
    • 1 male in his 50’s
    • 1 male in his 80’s

 

To date, Saline County has had a total of 2,109 lab confirmed positives, including 38 deaths, 972 have recovered, White County has had a total of 1,378 lab-confirmed positives, including 23 deaths, 547 have recovered, and Gallatin County has a total of 415 lab-confirmed positives of COVID-19, including 3 deaths, 211 have recovered. The Illinois Department of Public Health, their healthcare provider, and the individuals have all been notified and are monitoring the situation.

 

Quarantine can end after Day 10 without testing and if no symptoms have been reported during daily monitoring. With this strategy, residual post-quarantine transmission risk is estimated to be about 1% with an upper limit of about 10%.
Quarantine can end after Day 7 if a diagnostic specimen tests negative and if no symptoms were reported during daily monitoring. The specimen may be collected and tested within 48 hours before the time of planned quarantine discontinuation (e.g., in anticipation of testing delays), but quarantine cannot be discontinued earlier than Day 8. In other words, the earliest they could test would be on Day6. With this strategy, the residual post-quarantine transmission risk is estimated to be about 5% with an upper limit of about 12%.

IDPH announced that Illinois had a total of 6,642 new confirmed cases and 117 additional deaths. Bringing the total of 1,040,168 confirmed cases and 17,743 deaths in Illinois.
