Driscoll & Upton Toss Complete Games, CWC Sweeps EC

The Carmi-White County baseball and softball teams both defeated Edwards County Tuesday afternoon, baseball winning 2-0 and softball winning 6-0.

Dominant pitching was the storyline for CWC on Tuesday for both the Bulldogs and the Lady Bulldogs. 

Audrey Upton tossed her 2nd complete game shutout of the season, only giving up 2 hits and 2 walks while striking out 5 batters. 

The Lady Bulldogs were able to score 3 runs in the bottom of the 1st inning thanks to an RBI single by Alyna Johnson.

Caroline Simmons drove in another run in the bottom of the 3rd inning, extending the CWC lead to 4-0. 

Carmi plated two more runs in the 5th inning on RBIs by Mia Evans and Alexa Knight to push the Lady Bulldog lead to 6-0, and they went on to win by that score. 

At the plate,
Addi Elliott went 1-4 with a run scored.
Alayna Johnson went 2-3 with 2 RBI and a run scored.
Mara Serafini went 1-3 with a run scored.
Caroline Simmons went 3-3 with an RBI and a run scored.
Mia Evans went 1-3 with an RBI.
Alexa Knight went 1-2 with an RBI. 

The Lady Bulldogs improve to 8-6 on the year and 4-1 in the BDC East, they will battle the Lady Lions again Thursday in Albion. 

Landon Driscoll pitched the game of his career on Tuesday, going the distance and allowing 0 runs on 2 hits and 4 walks. 

The Bulldog offense was quiet for most of the game, only collecting 3 hits, but 2 of those hits came in key moments. 

Merrick Millhorn picked up a 2-out RBI single in the bottom of the 2nd inning that scored Gavin Holloman to put the Bulldogs ahead 1-0. 

Then, in the bottom of the 3rd, Caleb Seibers came through with another 2-out RBI single that scored Travor Mason to extend the CWC lead to 2-0, and they would go on to win by that score. 

The Bulldogs pick up a much needed win after losing 5 of 6 games last week. CWC improves to 5-9 on the year and 2-3 in the BDC East. They will host Harrisburg at Eckerle Park on Wednesday before traveling to Edwards County on Thursday.
