After 43 years serving Hamilton County and the surrounding area, Dr. Kadhiresan Murugappan has announced his retirement on April 27, 2023.
After receiving his medical degree from the Madurai Medical College in Madurai, Tamil Nadu, India, Dr. Murugappan then completed his residency at the Hospital for Joint Diseases and Medical Centre in New York City, New York.
In 1980, Dr. Murugappan and his family were welcomed to McLeansboro and he began his service as an internal medicine physician.
Dr. Murugappan went on to join Hamilton Memorial Hospital District in 2015 serving as a trusted physician within the Hamilton Memorial Family Clinic. During his decades-long career, he cared for countless patients with steadfast kindness and devotion.
Throughout his service, Dr. Murugappan has been a remarkable asset to the healthcare community. He has gratefully mentored coming generations of healthcare professionals and provided an unwavering dedication to keeping the patients’ best interests in mind.
“Dr. Murugappan will leave a remarkable legacy of compassionate dedication on everyone he has cared for and worked alongside throughout his career – he will be greatly missed. A “come and go” retirement celebration is planned in honor of Dr. Murugappan on April 26, 2023 in the Hamilton Memorial Hospital lobby from 2:00 – 4:00 pm. Cake and punch will be served.
