White County Sheriff’s personnel made a warrant arrest late Thursday in Norris City. The report indicates a deputy was making a routine stop at Doug’s Food Mart around 11pm to check the gambling facility. In doing so, the officer found 43-year-old April Wood sitting at one of the terminals and says he knew she was wanted on a Failure to Appear warrant. Wood was taken into custody and taken to the White County Jail without incident. The original charge relates to an April of this year arrest in which Wood was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance.
The Sheriff’s office also received a Mill Shoals man Wednesday afternoon. Joshua Smothers turned himself into law enforcement just before 4pm. He was wanted on a warrant related to charges that date back to July 17th and include 3 counts, one a charge for Theft (over $10,000), another for Criminal Damage to Property, and Driving while License Revoked. Smothers was booked and released. He’s due before Judge Webb at 9am on September 9th.
