Carmi White County Superintendent Brad Lee says school leaders are currently consulting with Egyptian Health Department, law enforcement and the school’s lawyers to figure out how to best recognize graduating students. In a release, Monday afternoon, Lee (along with High School Prinicpal Jarrod Newell) referenced the Illinois Department of Public Health and the Illinois State Board of Education’s “Joint Guidance” release regarding CoViD-19 and ceremonies and said the school district is committed to giving the Class of 2020 and their families fond memories of this time in their lives. According to the release, “There are many factors to consider in making this decision, with the most important being the health, safety, and well-being of our students and their families.” Lee and Newell expect a decision on the date, time and type of graduation ceremony for CWCHS Seniors to be released later this week; however, the gentlemen remain final plans may have to be modified based on ongoing guidance from the ISBE and state officials.
