The Carmi-White County Bulldogs traveled to Edwards County to face the Lions on Friday, October 11th and the Bulldogs came away with a dominant 48-6 victory.
It was all Bulldogs from the opening kick to the final whistle.
Carmi marched down on their opening drive, going 50 yards in 7 plays, capping it off with an 8-yard touchdown run by Noah Pollard. Kade Stockton ran in the two-pointer and the Dogs led 8-0 with 8:47 to go in the 1st.
Edwards County was able to move the football into Bulldog territory, but facing a 4th & 4 at the Bulldog 30, Noah Pollard chased down the quarterback for a sack to turn the ball over on downs.
The Bulldogs then embarked on a 15-play, 70-yard drive, capped off with another Pollard touchdown and Stockton two-point conversion. 16-0 CWC with 10:51 left in the 2nd quarter.
The Bulldog defense forced and recovered a fumble on the ensuing possession, in which they turned into points. Madden Anderson ran in the quarterback sneak from 4 yards out, extending the CWC lead to 24-0 with 4:31 to go in the half.
After an Edwards County three-and-out, Carmi was able to get one more score before the end of the half. Stockton ran in his first of two touchdowns on the night, this one from 3 yards out to give the Bulldogs a 32-0 halftime lead.
The Bulldog defense forced another Lions three-and-out, but pinned deep in their own territory, Pollard busted free for a 68-yard run to put the football at the EC 13 yard line. Three plays later, Stockton ran in his 2nd touchdown of the night, putting CWC in front 40-0 and turning on the running clock with 7:17 to go in the 3rd quarter.
After that score, CWC began to pull out their starters and sub in the JV offense and defense, however Edwards County kept their varsity starters in. The Lions finally found the endzone with 11:08 in the ballgame on a 9-yard touchdown run by Brodie Dardeen to make it 40-6.
The Bulldog JV offense drove down the field for a touchdown drive of their own, capped off with an 11-yard TD run by Branson Burnett. The first of many in his career. Making the score 48-6 and that would be final.
The Bulldogs improve to 6-1 with the win, clinching an IHSA playoff berth for the 4th straight season and 19th time under head coach Kurt Simon.
CWC will host Eldorado this Friday for Senior Night.
