Dawgs Defeat Gallatin County; Improve to 5-0

The Carmi-White County Bulldog baseball team defeated Gallatin County Monday afternoon by a final score of 17-7. 

Tyson Spicer got the start on the mound for the Bulldogs, and he faced his fair share of battles early on.

Gallatin jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the 1st inning on a 2-run home run by Grant Jackson.

The Bulldogs answered with one run in the bottom of the 1st on an RBI ground out by Merick Millhorn.

The Hawks added one more in the 2nd to extend their lead to 3-1, but that lead wouldn’t last long.

RBI base hits by Chad Burnett and Caleb Seibers in the bottom of the 2nd put the Bulldogs 4-3, and they wouldn’t give that lead up.

The Bulldogs exploded for 6 runs in the home 3rd, thanks in part to a 3-run double from Seibers.

The Hawks didn’t give up without a fight, they scored once in the 4th and three more times in the 5th to cut Carmi’s lead to 11-7.

The Bulldogs were able to score 4 in the 5th and 2 more in the 6th to end the ballgame via the 10-run rule.

Jeremy Planitz came into the game in the 3rd inning and picked up the win on the mound for the Bulldogs, he allowed just 2 earned runs on 1 hit with 3 strikeouts. 

At the plate,
Caleb Seibers went 3-for-4 with 6 RBI and a run scored.
Travor Mason went 2-for-4 with 4 runs scored.
Maxon O’Daniel went 2-for-4 with an RBI.
Gavin Holloman went 1-for-3 with 2 RBI and 3 runs scored.
Merick Millhorn went 1-for-4 with 3 RBI and a run scored.
Landon Driscoll went 1-for-2 with 2 RBI and a run scored.
Chad Burnett went 1-for-2 with an RBI and a run scored.
Hayden Sauls, Cade Allen and Trayton Vickers all scored runs in the Bulldog win. 

Carmi-White County improves to 5-0 on the season. They will host Hardin County Tuesday at Eckerle Park.
