CWC Wrestlers Fall at Home to Olney

The Carmi-White County Wrestling team welcomed in the Tigers from Olney on Tuesday Night at McDougal-Evers Gymnasium.

The match started off in the 150 weight class, and Jazz Duckworth got the night rolling with a pin in 1:49 to put CWC in front.

In the 157 weight class, Cole Evans defeated his opponent by an 8-7 decision.

Branson Burnett also picked up a win for the Bulldogs in the 165 weight class, pinning his opponent in just 40 seconds.

Carmi would then drop three straight in the 175, 190, and 215 weight classes before Laeden Vargas got the Bulldogs back on the board with a pin in just 55 seconds in 285.

James Bush and Malachi Oberlender received forfeits in 106 & 120, and that would be all the Bulldogs could muster on the evening, falling 46-33.

“We are a young team,” said CWC head coach Terry Gholson. “Ee are still learning the nuances of the sport, I feel that we are getting better and will continue to get better as the season progresses.”

The Bulldogs are off to an 0-2 start, they will look to pick up their first win as they travel to Mt. Carmel on Wednesday.
