A court date has been set for a Fairfield man accused of stabbing an individual then leaving them for dead.
According to a press release from Wayne County Sheriff Chris Otey, on April 13th Ace A. Haygood of Fairfield was initially charged with aggravated battery and a petition to revoke probation. Wayne County Sheriff’s Officials say that they were called to the emergency room at Fairfield Memorial Hospital in reference to a 19-year-old victim who had been stabbed in the back by what officers believe to be a screwdriver and struck in the head with the same screwdriver. The victim stated after the event, Haygood allegedly left them on the side of the road and attempted to run over them. Haygood was located the next evening during probation detail duties.
Currently, Haygood is being charged with Battery causing Great Bodily Harm. The original court date for this case was set for May 4th, but due to a scheduling conflict with the court, it was announced on May 3rd that the case would be moved to June 1st.
