The April 4th election is fast approaching. White County Clerk Kayci Heil equates putting an election on to planning a massive event for thousands of attendees.
If an election is like a wedding, the White County Clerk says she needs caterers.
Heil says she needs nearly a dozen new election judges, specifically Republican judges for Mill Shoals Precincts 1 and 2, Carmi 14, 16, and 20, Heralds Prairie 22, and Emma 30. Democrat judges are needed for Indian Creek 8, Burnt Prairie 10, and Hawthorne 28. So what does an election judge do?
And it’s important to the integrity of each election that those election judges remain on site throughout election day.
For the efforts, you can make $125 plus any mileage you incur. If you’re interested in learning more about becoming an election judge, contact the White County Clerk’s office directly by stopping in the office at the White County courthouse or call 618-382-7211 extension 1.
