County Board Moves Meeting to Wednesday

The final White County Board meeting of 2023 will be a busy one and it has been moved from its regular meeting time on Tuesday to Wednesday this week, beginning at 7 p.m.

The meeting which is normally held on the third Tuesday of the month was moved to Wednesday to overcome some conflicts that arose with meeting on Tuesday.

The agenda list a number of items including the discussion and possible approval of renewing the Animal Control contract with Steve Heil.

Ralph Hall’s appointment as secretary of the Norris City Fire Protection board will be considered and likely approved.

An agreement between the sheriff’s department and White County Ambulance service will be discussed.

Tim Barbre will be considered for an appointment to the Randolp District.

An approval of an ordinance to pay Jim Hayes for repairs to one of the ambulances will be considered. That money will come from the ARPA funds.

The board will also consider and likely approve the appointment of Fire Chief Daniel Ballard to replace the late Jim Totten on the 911 Board.

Old business includes discussion of a solar application process and fee, along with changing a bond to a letter of credit from Boomtown Solar, currently building a solar farm in Burnt Prairie Township.

New business will include accepting Denton Aud’s resignation as state’s attorney. Aud has been selected as an associated judge. The board is also expected to approve Christopher Neal’s appointment to fill Aud’s position. Neal has filed to run for the job in the March primary.

The board will also discuss moving the monthly meetings to the third Wednesday of each month and changing the start times.

This will be the last meeting of 2023 for the county board. The next meeting is tentatively set for 7 p.m. January 17th.
