The White County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Carmi American Legion Post 224 Saturday morning in reference to a report of a counterfeit $20 bill having been passed at the establishment.
Upon arrival Deputy Spencer met with Sheila A. Hosick, an employee of the American Legion, who advised that she had taken the $20 bill Friday night without realizing it was fake until the following morning.
Deputy Spencer took the bill into evidence and secured it in the safe and an incident report was filed at the White County Sheriff’s Department.
