The Carmi Kiwanis Board of Directors regrets to inform the citizens of Carmi and its surrounding communities that Corn Day 2020 will not be held this year. Many factors were considered when making this difficult decision. Among them was the respect we have for the Corn Day donors and sponsors while our chief concern was for the health and safety of the community at large.
Corn Day is largely funded by donors and business sponsors. The Kiwanis Club wholeheartedly appreciates and thanks the Corn Day donors and sponsors for their outstanding generosity. It is key to the club being able to host Corn Day. Out of respect for these individuals and businesses, the Kiwanis board wants to give them the opportunity to invest in themselves and their businesses.
The board also recognizes that the health and safety of the people in our community is paramount. We do not want to put anyone in undue harm or at risk of illness.
Corn Day is a tradition for many, and it will be missed in 2020! Personal thoughts and feelings were difficult to overcome in making this decision. For the greater good of the community and individuals and businesses who support Corn Day, the Kiwanis Board feels that is best to postpone Corn Day until 2021. Rest assured the board is already starting the planning process for an amazing 2021 Corn Day.
Respectfully,
Eric Rahlfs, Kiwanis President
