Cops and Kids Leaders Preparing to Launch Year 24 in White County

The tradition that began 23 years ago with officer Jonathan Lucas will continue.  The Cops with Kids program is set to make a difference for dozens of young people throughout the county this December.  Officer Jacob Quillen is taking over the program for the retired Lucas and is asking for your help to make the season brighter for as many as possible.  The Cops and Kids Program involves law enforcement personnel taking kids from the area shopping.  It allows for kids to have a better Christmas while allowing officers to make connections with youngsters.

The program is open to kids aged 3 – 12 and applications are available at the Carmi PD, Norris City PD, and also the White County Sheriff’s Department.  Those applications must be turned in by December 4th at 3pm. Cops will go shopping on December 16th.  Last year, 60 kids benefitted from the local Cops and Kids event.

If you’d like to donate to the program, make your check or money order out to White County Cops and Kids.  Donations can be dropped off at the Norris City PD, Carmi PD, or White County Sheriff’s Department.  You can also mail your donation to the sheriff’s office at 108 North Main Cross in Carmi, IL, 62821.  Donation boxes are also available at Doug’s in Norris City, Maier’s in Crossville, and Huck’s in Carmi.
