Emmit Connely Going Back to IDOC

The Crossville resident has been sentenced to a 30-year term at the IDOC for the offense of Criminal Sexual Assault. The sentencing hearing for the White County charge, a matter of significant public interest, was held last week and entered by the Honorable T. Scott Webb.

Back in May of 2024, Emmit Connely was initially arrested on a warrant for two counts of Criminal Sexual Assault and one count of Criminal Sexual Abuse. Fast forward to July at his trial, where the jury reached a verdict after a thorough seven-hour deliberation. Connely was found guilty of one count of Criminal Sexual Assault of a family member under the age of 18. The jury also found him not guilty of two other charges, one the same charge from a different date and the other a Criminal Sexual Abuse charge from a third date.

Connely’s first stay at the IDOC was back in 2003 after he was found guilty in Edwards County for a similar charge and served six years.
