A weeklong trial has resulted in the conviction of Crossville resident Emmit Connely. The 54-year-old was found guilty by a jury on Friday on one count of Criminal Sexual Assault of a Family Member under the age of 18. The jury returned a not guilty verdict on two other charges, one the same charge from a different date and the other a Criminal Sexual Abuse charge from a third date. The jury deliberated Friday for just about 7 hours before returning their finding.
Connely was found guilty in Edwards County of similar charges back in 2003. He was sentenced to 6 years total at that time because those sentences were mandated to run concurrently. Connely is scheduled to be sentenced in White County Court on September 5th.
