Communities Pick up Thousands in Grant Funding to Help Identify and Repair Lead Water Lines

Several communities throughout southern Illinois have been named winners of funding to assist in meeting requirements outlined in the Lead Service Line Replacement and Notification Act.  The grant program offered funds ranging from $20,000 to $50,000 to help communities develop a complete material inventory of water lines within the drinking water system and more importantly identify lead service lines that should be removed to prevent future contamination.  Among those receiving grants in round two are Grayville, who received thirty grand.  McLeansboro picked up a $40,000 grant and Ridgway is getting $25,800.  The third and final round is open now and grant applications will be accepted through 1pm on October 10th.
