Carmi Woman Arrested on Violation of an Order of Protection Friday Evening

A 37 year old Carmi woman, Serena J. Dunn, was arrested by the White County Sheriff’s Department Friday evening following a report from 69 year old Carolyn J. Dunn that Serena was violating an order of protection that ordered Serena to stay 500 feet away from Carolyn Dunn.

Carolyn advised that Serena was on the west side of an outside building on the property. Officers located Serena and advised her that she was under arrest for violating an order of protection.

Officers struggled to place Serena in handcuffs due to an abundance of sweatshirts she had on. She was asked to remove a couple of the sweatshirts so the cuffs could be placed properly on her. After Serena took off a leather jacket and went to take off a black sweatshirt, she asked an officer to help. As he grabbed the back of the sweatshirt to assist Serena, she slipped through the sweatshirt and took off running. She was apprehend after a short foot chase.

Upon placing the handcuffs it was found that Serena had a large cut on her hand. She advised she had cut herself earlier sometime. Serena was transported to the White County Jail, where White County Ambulance met her and advised she would need stitches in her hand.  Jail staff transported Serena to the hospital for evaluation.

The report will be forwarded to the White County State’s Attorney’s Office for charges.
