Carmi White County Baseball Splits Double Header to Open Season

4/26/21

Carmi White County baseball is now 1-1 on the year.  You may have gotten a chance to tune in to game one of the season yesterday afternoon.  Our own Bryce Thompson had the call as the Bulldogs opened the season at home versus Edwards County in a double header.  Zack Roark pitched a complete game for the Dogs in game one and only allowed 4 hits.  Two errors cost Carmi White County however and their offense couldn’t find a groove against a pair of St. Ledger pitchers; they came up short 3 – 0.

Dylan Rankin threw a 4 hit shut out of his own for Carmi White County in the 5 inning game 2.  He needed 77 pitches and threw 47 for strikes.  Carmi White County didn’t take any time righting the ship in game 2 with 3 runs in the bottom of the first of game 2 and adding an insurance run in the 4th.  Cal York had 2 walks, a single and an RBI.  Brody Atteberry doubled, driving in 2 and Tyler Spence singled driving in Carmi White County’s other run.  Ty Stubblefield had a stolen base for the Bulldogs.

Coach Justin Simmons’ Bulldogs are back in action today headed to West Frankfort.  The Lady Bulldogs softball squad will be in action Thursday.  They’ll play host to the Gibson Southern Lady Titans at Archie Brown Memorial Field.

Carmi White County wrestling was supposed to get underway today, but Coach Terry “Sarge” Gholsons squad will have to wait as their match at Trico has been cancelled.
