The board members all agreed to let Newell look into the proposal further.

In the Superintendent’s Report, Mr. Newell discussed the breakfast for all staff and a staff meeting at the junior/senior high school on Monday, August 12th.  After opening remarks, building principals introduced new staff members, gave building updates, and then staff returned to their respective buildings for in service work for the remainder of the day and on Tuesday the 13th.  Students began school last week on Wednesday, August 14th with a one hour early dismissal that continued until the end of the week, allowing students to become acclimated to school and for staff to prepare for the school year.  This practice has been utilized over the past several years and has been very successful.  Newell also complimented the summer employees for the outstanding job they do in preparing district buildings for the beginning of the year.

There was also an update on Dual Credit and Vocational programs at Carmi White County High School.  The goal is to prepare students for college.
