The Carmi Rotary club made their first meeting of 2016 a short one, as the club discussed their plans for the new year, and took a look back on the national scene. Specifically, the Rotarians spent some time remembering some of the famous people that left us in the past twelve months.
President Tom Logan went through a partial list of some of the actors, actresses, sport’s figures, and other well-known people who died in 2015. The list included: Mario Cuomo, Leonard Nimoy, Benny King, BB King, Percy Sledge, Omar Sharif, Jackie Collins, Yogi Berra, Fred Thompson, Ernie Banks, and Natalie Cole.
President Tom also mentioned that the White County Build committee will hold its first meeting of 2016 next Thursday, January 14th at the Lion’s Den in Carmi. The meeting will start at 6:00pm, and the group will be discussing building plans for 2016.
The Carmi Rotary club meets every Thursday at noon at the First United Methodist Church in Carmi. Anyone wishing to learn more about this worldwide civic club is more than welcome to attend a meeting or speak with any Carmi Rotarian.
