At Thursday’s meeting of the Carmi Rotary club, there was no formal speaker, so the Rotarians on hand used their time to discuss a variety of topics.
First up, the club discussed next week’s meeting, when the newly inaugurated district Governor will be on hand. Mary Harvey, of the Mt. Vernon, Illinois club will make her first official visit to Carmi, as the 22-23 DG of the southern Illinois district. The club is hoping for a very strong turn-out of Rotarians and guests for this important visit.
The members held a brief discussion of the upcoming trivia contest. This year’s fall event will be held a little earlier than normal, with the big night taking place on Saturday, October 22nd. Much more information will be coming out as the contest gets closer.
Lastly, the club discussed the upcoming Cardinals-Yankees game in St. Louis. Saturday, August 6th will be Rotary day at Busch Stadium, and several members of the local club will be on hand that night to watch what should be a fantastic game.
In club business, Cindy Conley won the 50/50 drawing but failed to claim the day’s jackpot. The cash prize continues to grow, and soon, some lucky winner is going to go home with a nice pocket full of money. Patty Mills was named the day’s phantom at the meeting.
