Carmi Police Make Weekend Arrests

A Carmi woman spent the weekend behind bars following her arrest Friday evening.  It was about 6:45pm when police arrested 48-year-old Patti Burton at her home on Burrell Street.  Officers took her into custody on a Failure to Appear warrant related to a Domestic Battery charge that dates back to April 28th of this year.  Burton will presumably appear before a judge early this week.

Carmi Police placed 19-year-old Isaiah Deem behind bars for the weekend in the early morning hours Saturday.  It was just after 3am when law enforcement pulled Deem over at the intersection of Oak and Commerce.  He was subsequently placed in custody on a handful of charges including Driving while License Suspended, Unlawful Use of Property, Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.  Deem was also given citations for Improper Lane Usage and Operating an Uninsured Motor Vehicle.  Deem has addresses in both Flora and Rinard in the report.  Of note, Deem was arrested in Wayne County on May 11th for Driving on a Suspended License and Operating a Motor Vehicle with Cancelled, Revoked, or Suspended Registration.  He’s due in court there on June 27th.  In Clay County, Deem was just in court last Wednesday for a first appearance on charges of Possession of Meth, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and formal arraignment on May 7th charges of Driving on a Suspended License and Operating a Motor Vehicle with Suspended Registration.  He’s due back in Clay County court on July 29th.
